What are the pros/cons of teeth whitener?

Question

i want to start using teeth whitener, like the crest white strips or whatever, but unfortunately my mom won't let me. i'm 14 almost 15, and i think i should be in charge of my hygiene...my mom says that teeth whitener is expensive and harmful to the teeth.

i'm just wondering what the pros/cons of teeth whitener are, and the safer alternatives, if any.

OK..depending on your overall tooth and body health, tooth whitening can in some cases not be a good idea...especially the "Do IT Your Self" kind.....The only really safe one you can use that isn't a drug store whitening product and one you can make your self is taking two tablespoons of baking soda and mixing it with just enough water to create a thick paste...Use it once a day and regular toothpaste the other time, like at night...As for popular tooth whitening products here is the results of a recent survey.
