I have noticed these purple triangular shaped boxes hanging from trees along the roads in western pa. I was wondering what they were for.

It seems a lot of people are still curious about those purple boxes hanging from trees in the region. For those of you who don't know, they are Emerald Ash Borer traps. The state Department of Agriculture put them up to see if the destructive beetle has made it to this part of the state yet.
