  1. to  stomp out any individuality  we have

  2. So that people with less money aren't treated differently.

and it's easaier to keep tabs on kids risque clothes, at least for like catholic schools

  3. the definition of uniform is the same all the way through. the purpose is to have everyone look the same and worry more about school rather than fashion which doesn't really work.

i have to wear uniforms (black or white polo shirt, khaki, black, navy or white pants) but i always accessorize it the the extreme. this is what I'm wearing for the first day http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=32354... almost everyone in my school accessorizes their uniform so they can be different so the "everyone the same" thing doesn't really work.

  4. They have them so people who can't get nice clothes or people who choose to dress differently don't get teased. Also it keeps the kids more focused on their school work then their outfits and whose wearing what. This way people don't wear any inappropriate clothing because they are wearing what the school asked them to. Hope I helped.

  5. 1. It makes it so the kids don't pick on other kids because of fashion choices

    2. It makes it so that no one wears revealing clothes to school

    3. It makes it so that poor families will be equal to rich families when it comes to clothes (one kid won't come in wearing the most expensive designer clothes and another kid wearing torn up old clothes)

    4. When schools go on field trips it helps so that they can tell who belongs from what school

That is all I can think of :)

Ps. They seem to make uniforms shapeless and big, I bet everyone wouldn't have uniforms if they at least made them fit!!

  6. well really it is normally only private schools that have them.

of course no one likes 'em. youu have to wear the same thing

almost every day:/ that would reallly suck youu know. but they

have kids wear them so that the school looks more nice and

organized since all the kids are wearing the same thing pretty

    much. [: hope this helped.

  7. not every body hates them. i don't. they make it easy for kids who can't buy nice clothes. they cant get teased about what they wear because everybody is wearing the same thing.

  8. i used to have to wear one. its so ppl that cant do the big brand names wont have to worry. also we were told it gave the school and clean and neat look because we were all dressed the same, and that it gave a good impression of our school.

  9. so that there isnt discrimination based on peoples clothes. but i dont agree with that because its not like students wont be friends with the same people just because there are uniforms. everyone that works for schools think that we base our friendships solely on appearance, which is totally not true. they should get a reality check.

  10. There are many, many reasons and I'm one of the few that liked my uniform. While i was going to school we had a variety of shirts we could where with the logo. t-shirts, Polo's, sweatshirts, hoodies, and long sleeve t-shirts. They came in a variety of colors to. One big reason is our school was geared towards gettting students ready for the working world. Obviously you can't dress in street clothes. Another reason is kids get teased because of the clothes they wore or the brand and this prevents that because you all have the same choice of shirts you have to wear. We did have dress down days, but there was still a little bit of a dress code so girls didn't come looking like s***s and boys didn't come with there pants hanging down to there ankles lol, but we are aloud to wear regular clothes atleast once a week. All in all uniforms really arn't that bad. You'll most likely have to wear them later on so get used to them.

edit:"to stomp out any individuality we have "

So the only way you show individuality is by the clothes you wear? I don't know about you, but It doesn't  matter what I wear I still have the same personality. lol

  11. to build school spirit

  12. There are several possible benefits, not that I'm saying I agree:

    1)  It removes the social pressure to feel like you have to keep up with other kids' fashions, possibly compelling a student to place undue financial burden on their parents to buy the latest -- and most expensive -- clothes.

    2)  In some neighborhoods in this country, it can literally mean the difference between life and death as wearing certain colors can make some gangs think you're members of a rival gang leading them act violently toward you.  If you don't believe me, or think I'm watching too much TV, you should try living where I live for a while.

    3)  It creates a sense of getting past vanity so that you're not sidetracked by meaningless c**p that has nothing to do with what you're in school to do.

    4)  It eliminates some bullying in high schools because you can't be made fun of for your clothes.  It also creates the idea that the biggest jock and the smartest geek are in SOME way on the same level.

    5)  It trains you to have an organizational mentality that will later benefit you in the corporate world when there's a specific mode of dress you are expected to adopt.

  13. Uniforms are used so that you dont spend soo much money on the newest trends. I know they look dorky but the good thing is if you like get a grass stain or something like a food fight happens, you wont care because they are so  UGLY:)  + you dont have to stress about what to wear

  14. To bring

    1 uniformity

    2 Consecration

3 One-levelness   no better and worse clothing

    4 To teach us orderliness

5 To create formality rather than a playful atmosphere

    6 A part of Discipline

7 .....................When you get to coll u'll realise uniofrm was better there is no question of insecurity in clothing

    Uniforms are good!

    Hope u are convinced :)

  15. to keep everyone is order

nobody wants to strip off someone elses clothes if they are wearing a uniform

  16. To make it easy for the students. They don't have to figure out what they are going to wear when they get dressed.

  17. so people with less money dont fell bad. but know there useless cuz aero is selling them so there is gonna be a prob

  18. As much as you hate uniforms, think about how it would be when you all got to choose your school dress.  You were always fearful that your clothes would not look as good as the most "popular" kids.

What if your shoes didn't look as fashionable, or as cool as the others in your class?  Honestly, you probably could remember kids that got teased, because their clothes looked like they bought them at a thrift store.  Or kids that had clothes that not match, strange colors, maybe even goth-like clothes?

Kids often got into fights over their choice in clothes or styles, and some kids even robbed others, to take their jackets, or shoes.

Overall, unifroms were adopted to prevent competition, and reduce the "fashion-world" atmosphere, that some students tried to create, when actually getting an education was more important.

On top of those reasons, outsiders often sneaked into schools, those who were not students, but maybe there to steal from lockers.  If every young person had to wear a uniform, someone who did not belong, would look  out of place.

'You can also take pride in your uniforms, just as professional sports teams take pride in wearing theirs. It builds up team spirit.  Imagine how difficult playing sports might be, if athletes could wear whatever they wanted on the field of play?  Confusing, right?  No one could identify which team each player was on.

Take pride that you can now identify the "best" at your school, and it's not about what they wear, but how they act.  OH, and finally, studies show that students act better, when all dressed in same manner.

It's worked well in private schools for decades, now public schools are learning how to improve performance, with standarized uniforms.  Be thankful you have them, really.
