  2. You must study aeronatical engineering after completing the course u have to undergo training afterwards u will be placed as a pilot

  3. i think that you have already recieved the answer to the technical qualifications required to be a commercial pilot. But as far as getting a job is concerned, there is an excess of trainee pilots in the market at the moment. What the airlines are in demand of are qualified commanders. that is the reason they are hiring expats.

Do not take up flying because you think there is a shortage of pilots. the boom has already started to die out.

if you are still interested and flying is your passion, then only go for it. i recommend that you join Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Academy or as a cadet in any of the reputed airlines. with these you can be sure of getting a job after your training.

I am a first officer with kingfisher. with the ups and downs in aviation field , it is practically impossible to predict the situation three years from now.

    well good luck

  4. Dear Friend...I am sanjay and ex -commercial pilot, but now I am an employee of a mnc bank in Kolkata.

I am glad to answer your questions first part first that is many foreign pilots are being hired by these airlines. This is nothing but a display of malpractices and favoritism along with what we called Gori Chamri today also many industry as a matter of fact hire foreign employee with much more higher salary. The matter of fact is as of date there are at least 600 Commercial pilots sitting on the bench with no jobs. And yet these companies hire foreign pilots. Shame on these companies. Actually they don’t want to spend any penny on new recruits rather just take the ready made people. Imagine how about these people who have spent so much just to fulfill their dreams.

Next comes Qualification…you must be from a science stream most specifically Physics, chemistry, and Math’s is a must after 10th.

Please before going for any pilots training you need to first make sure that you are medically fit for the job. Take help of DGCA approved medical information before even thinking to Fly.

Next comes Money money money honey if your dad has at least 10 to 15 lakh for you then make a move other wise it will end up in frustration without finance.

I am not trying to discourage you dear but just being honest about Indian scenario on flying.

Last but not the least you also need to have a solid back up from some Nami Pilot and or Minister/or somebody big shot.

Any further clarification write me applepical@yahoo.co.in

  10. to become a commertial pilot you should pass your  higher secondary examination i.e 12th with physics and maths which is compulsary and after that you can join any aviation acadamy like kompass aviation or aha for the training of commercial pilot. your  height should more than 170 cm and english should be fluent

  11. Firstly, you should learn how to gather information from appropriate sources. This is a basic requirment for becoming a pilot (either professional or non-professional)

In other words - you should enquire with the Indian Civil Aviation authority.

  12. dude,

To become a commercial pilot in India, one has to first possess a Student Pilot License (SPL). To get the SPL those with 10+2 with science and aged at least 16 years should register at a flying club which is recognized by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India. Registration requires a medical certificate, security clearance and a bank guarantee. An oral examination in subjects such as Air Regulations, Aviation Meteorology, Air Navigation, Engine (technical and specific) follows the registration. Successful completion of the examination entitles you for an SPL certificate.

The second step is the Private Pilot License (PPL). PPL training includes sixty hours of flying of which about fifteen hours are dual flights, that is accompanied by the flight instructor and at least 30 hours of solo flights apart from five hours of cross-country flying. This makes one eligible for the PPL exam, which consists of Air Regulation, Aviation Meteorology, Air Navigation, Aircraft Engines and Seamanship. The prescribed age for appearing for this exam is 17 years and an educational qualification of 10+2 along with a medical Fitness Certificate issued by the Armed Forces Central Medical Establishment (AFCME).

A Commercial Pilot Licence may be obtained only after a PPL has been acquired. To obtain a Commercial Pilots License (CPL) 250 hours of flying (including 60 hours for the PPL) is necessary. Besides that you have to undergo a Medical Fitness Test which is held at New Delhi and an examination which consists of Air Regulations, Aviation Meteorology, Air Navigation, Technical, Planning, and communications in the form of Radio & Wireless Transmission. With the CPL, a pilot can take up any professional assignment.

Personal Attributes: This is a filed of discipline, patience, responsibility, punctuality, commitment and self-confidence. The job requires a lot of hard work, stamina, alertness of mind, adaptability to follow difficult time schedules, good team spirit etc. Must be mentally very alert in every situation. Emotional stability in crisis situations is another characteristic that the pilots should have. Apart from these qualities, the persons willing to take up this as profession, should be calm, pleasant, compassionate, adventurous, understanding and technically sound.
