  1. It depends on the state you are living in. Most states have a program where people who all ready have a B.S. or higher can use that and take a few teaching courses. This helps lighten the load on getting the teachers we need. Some public schools have other programs that give you training, they will start you out as an aid while you take on-line courses to get your teaching cert. If I were you I would go to a few of your local elm. schools and talk with the principals and see what they have to offer. It is a great and rewarding career.

    best of luck

  2. iq of 30

  3. It depends on if it is a public or a private school.  Private, not much for some, a Ph.D for others.  It depends on the school.  Special schools like Montessori and Waldorf will require their own training on top of a four year degree. Public schools will require a teaching certification from the state you are in. All state certifications are a four year degree at least.  In some cases it is 5 years. 4 for a degree in something and then another year of education courses and student teaching.

Let me warn you.  Teaching kindergarten is not the "play time" people like the poster above think it is.  Kindergarten is the time that the children learn to follow the rules, stand in line, not push, wait their turn, share their things, use their words... as well as in this day and age, learn to read and do basic math.  In California, children need to be reading 20 words a minute, write 4 sentences on a specific topic with correct punctuation and spelling, and add and subtract numbers up to 30 by the end of kindergarten. Even with wealthy children who went to preschool, that is asking a lot.

  4. You have to have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education, or early childhood education. Also, you would need a license to teach.

    Best of luck.

  5. It also depends on what county you live in. Certain counties require you to have a BA in elementary education.  Other counties only require you to have a BA degree.  Either way you will have to take and pass the Certifications Exam.
