  1. DO:

-let the students know you care

    -have them imput in class

-listen to what they have to say

    -share your opinion

-keep in contact with the parents (depends on the students' age...)

    -know your topic

    -be open to questions

    **get to know your students**

    DO NOT:

-tell a student they are "wrong" try re-wording it

    -be too opinionated

-threaten to call parents--try talking to the student separatly first and if a call needs to be made, do it with the student present

-break the trust of your students

    -lie

  2. ok im going to be honest with you theres no such thing as a perfect teacher one person may like you you some else will not ok....

  3. Ma'am's answer is right on target, but I do have one thing to add to the don't list....Don't ever speak down to the kids.  You have to remember that they are just kids, not small adults. You will get a lot more respect from them if you treat them as if they are the actual age that they are.

  4. I think that it is very important to be consistent as a teacher or a parent.  If children know that you mean what you say, you will get less back talk and more cooperation.  You also provide the children with a sense of trust that you don't go back on your word (something that happens a lot in children's lives).  This creates a trust that they will be taken care of.  I know children may think that they like the spontaneous, crazy fun teacher/parent, but children crave structure and predictability.  If they know that their world is secure and boundaries are in place, they are more likely to be creative in their work and test those boundaries in new and different ways.

  5. Do be a good listener.

    Do be consistent.

    Do plan well.

Do allow for mistakes and admit when you make a mistake.

    Don't have favorites.

    Don't act like you're perfect.

    Don't lie, ever!

  6. It depends on what age group the teacher is teaching as to what qualities they should have.

What makes my favorite teacher my favorite teacher (high school) is that he asks questions about his students' daily lives. He makes it seem like he actually cares, rather than like he's just there for the pay check. If you say something that could be controversial in discussions, he'll ask "why do you think that?" and make you delve further into it. He's funny. He makes it obvious that he means business on the first day of class so that he doesn't have to be all harsh the rest of the school year. He just makes it seem like we're friends and that makes things enjoyable.

  7. just be cool, dont yell at them a lot and i also agree with everything ma'am said.
