  1. Go to Colone, it has a huge beautiful cathedral. Koblenz  is good also, it is the meeting point of the Rhine and Moselle rivers, with a huge statue of the Kaiser. Rudesime (not spelt right) they make lovley Asbach brandy there and you can take a cable car up above the town for a great view.

  2. I think there are many but the best for me are Köln, Aachen, Erfurt, Nürnberg, München, Dresden and of course Berlin. The best of the best? Dresden.... unveliebable how it was reconstructed after the war. The Frauenskirche is beautiful and the Semper Oper fantastic. Of course the "Altstadt" from Erfurt is beautiful, the Dom is magnificent.

  3. ah - all these answers make me itch for a quick vacation! lol..

I have to agree with a bunch of answers, Kreuth is absolutely gorgeous, so would be Rothenburg ob der Tauber and many other bavarian cities. Even the bigger ones like Munich! I went on and on about Munich in another answer..

Berlin is great as well, tons of things to do for any and every taste!

Then the Rhine River, yup - definitely a great place up and down, the Loreley, Rüdesheim, all the little towns along it, the wine capital of the world, Oppenheim (been titled that a couple of times :-D) and Nierstein if you like wine (you might get Oppenheimer Krötenbrunnen in a restaurant near you wherever you are), all the castles along the Rhine and Mosel (you can stay overnight in some of them, just have to plan it good)..

Mainz is a wonderful place, it´s 2000 years old (yup!!) and Julius Ceasar wrote about it in his books about the gallic wars. It´s main cathedral is 1000 years old and the Stefansdom has beautiful windows made by Marc Chagall. There are tons of roman things to discover and it´s definitely worth a stopover.

Trier is really nice and has beautiful roman sites to see as well but is a bit off the beaten path on the Luxembourg border.

Hamburg is a great place, too, if you happen to be in the north, so are Bremen and Münster.

If you are a nature loving person and you´re in the north you definitely want to check out the tideland/wadden sea coastline area of the north sea around Büsum and St. Peter Ording .. wow..

Dresden is absolutely everything that the other answerer has written - so worth going to.

Whatever you choose, if you look for things to discover, you´ll find them everywhere in Germany! Oh and about the Restaurant Post, I remember an old Bavarian guy telling me that you can almost never go wrong with eating at a place called the Post in Bavaria... lol...

Hope you have a great vacation!

  4. i have been to germany. if u go to berlin u can go to a great mueseum called Checkpoint Charlie. there is part of the berlin wall close to the museum also. hamburg has cool sites. it has great parks too. well i hope u like germany as much as i did. P.S. if u ask locals(who speak english, unless u know german) they can tell u all about places to see.

  5. The best sides in Germany are in the Rhein-Ruhr area! There yiu can find everything, big cities, little villages, old cities and new cities. There are many possibilities for sports, and it´s only 2 hours by car to the beach. So, this is one "must-see" in Germany. Of course the others are right, too, but I wouldn´t visit Dresden and other cities along the river Elbe, because they are under-water cities at the moment, and in some near time, it will stink...

  6. Oh, just a correction, the Castle used by Disney in I think all their movies and their logo is not in Tuebingen.

It is Neuschwanstein, close to Fuessen, south of Munich.

I know, I have been there for my honeymoon and once after.

Stay in the Schlosshotel Lisl if you planning to go. Get a room with a view to both castles there. Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau.

  7. frankfurt is an awesome city

Tübingen also Has a beautiful Castle' it was the model used in making the Castle for Disney's Cinderella.
