I'm thinking of a 10 day trip in October, I don't drive and I'm travelling alone. I especially like greenery, the Alps and beautiful villages.

  1. Lucerne is very nice, close by you can take the train up to the RIGGI KULM, takes an hour or so... if the weather is nice you can walk down...

Also Champery in Valais is very nice in the summer, in winter is too crowded for skiing, but in the summer is amazing for hiking etc...

I would not miss Lausanne either, its a charming city.

  2. You will have to make it to Intererlaken - its the best area for travellers, especially if you are alone.  There are quite a few amazing Thun.  The whole lake is surrounded by little towns and villages, all of which have a great view of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau.  The Beatus is around Gunten or Hilterfingen and is a great day trip.

If you want to see Swiss Culture, take a day trip to Berne, its beautiful and offers amazing sights.

If you want to vist the "bigger" cities, take a Trip to Zurich, Luzern, Geneva, and Locarno. I think Locarno is the best, its the Italian part of Switzerland.  Mountains, palm trees and is a 30 mins train ride to Italy.  There is a day market all the time in Bellicona, Ithink thats the right name.

Whatever you do, its a beautiful country, dont listen to the bitter Irish man:)

  3. sounds like a good plan... Switzerland is great for traveling alone.

the most popular/conventional tourist sites include: Zurich, Luzern, Bern, Jungfraujoch, Zermatt (for the Matterhorn), Lausanne (Olympic city), Geneva, Montreaux (for the Chillon Castle).

but other places a little more "off the beaten path" that i'd recommend are Rapperswil, Thun, Andermatt, Appenzell, Brienz.  Maybe Brig for its Italian-influenced architecture and its castle.

really, it just depends on what you want to do.

  4. Definitely visit Bern. It's well worth it just to see the clocktower which to me is really what you think about when you thing Switzerland. Also there are the bears and tons of museums in Bern.

I would go to Luzern as well to see the bridge.

  5. lausanne, lugano, basel, fribourg and zurich is big and good for shopping villars is good 2 beside the alps and good for it scenes this is the place where am currently spending my summer vaccation on

    peace

  6. As an irish ex-resident of Switzerland my favourite view would be in the rear view mirror, or,  from the port hole of a departing plane. Try one of the other countries around there,(they're all probably a lot cheaper!) I always used to think that Germany was clean and Switzerland was sterile.

I haven't been there for about 30 years and have heard about their drug problem since then, so maybe it's getting cooler! Perhaps the chocolate is dripping from their formerly constipated a***s. Think about Austria, France, Itlay, Germany or Lichtenstein. Nepal and Tibet are also good about April or October

  7. ooo you must go to Zurich and Luzern. they have perfect views of the alps and are very old beautiful cities.  also, the people there are very kind and most people speak english there that i found.  also, in luzern you can visit pilatus mountain and do shopping and hiking at the top.  it is absolutely beautiful and im sure you will enjoy it :)

  8. Hope to meet u there...
