  1. The commission in Pennsylvania, which is, I believe is the same in Ohio, is 7%.  BUT...you can negotiate it down to 6% and sometime 5%.  Some people don't realize that the commission is negotiable.  Right now we have 2 properties on the market.  One is at 5% and one is at 6%.  The Realtor started at 7%, but we got him down.  The one at 5% just sold, and the closing is tomorrow.  If you want to list a house, and the Real Estate agent won't negotiate the commission, look for someone else.


  2. I'm in the Columbus area, but the answer is the same no matter what part of the world you live in:  a realtor's commission is negotiable.  Especially in this horrible housing market, any realtor who will not negotiate on commission is being unreasonable and is not someone I'd ever deal with.
