what are good skates for a 13 year old skater who is learning FS 5 stuff?

like axel and camel - sit?

is it better to buy skates fixed with the blade or by them seperately?

i heard riedell and SP -teri are good, but which is better to perfect my jumps and spins faster?

thanks!

  1. I would get Ridell Silver Star. But I wouldn't get gold star because those are really hard to break in. And Bronze star would most likely break down quickly because of the stuff you are learning. They are more for beginner skaters. One of my friends have SP-Teri and she loves them. It is jjudged more on what you are comfortable with. If it is possible I would see if your rinks pro shop has these skates and try them on.

I usually buy my blades seprately and have someone at the rink mount them on for me. I have coordnation ace blades. I have always had those and they work really well for me. I would ask your coach about what kind of blades he or she recommends.

    I Hope That Helps.

  2. right now at ur level u dont need great skates

since ur young and still growing, u will prob grow out of new skates in a year so it would be a waste to buy expensive good skates

u should wait till ur better like working on triples and double jump combinations before u get better ones

for now u should just get the best skates u can at a rink pro shop

that would probally be a jackson or reidell for about 200 or 300 dollars

it would come together, if it is separate it will prob be a good pair of skates which u dont need

u can change to better ones when you are older and more better at skating

in my old skates(a pretty bad pair), i could do doubles, double combos and even triples easily so skates arent that big of a problem

even now my skates aren't great they are only like 1500 but i've been skating for so long and i am working on triples and such so when u get to that level u can get good skates

its just ur skill and how much u practice

g'luck practice hard and dont worry about the type of skates u have :)

  3. Im your age and a level above you but, I'm pretty much full grown. I recently just got the mediumweight SP-Teri and I love them. Although before that I was a huge fan of Riedells : ) I guess just try both on and see which one you would prefer most because it's different for everyone.

  4. It depends on how much you skate and how much you weigh. If you are a light person and you don't skate a lot, you might look at Gams, they break in easily, but they also break down fast. Reidells are not the best boot, and SP-Terris don't have that big of an ankle box. I skate in Harlicks, but they were like $600 without blades, talk to your coach or someone in the pro-shop who sells figure skates.

  5. SP Teri's are a little pricey. I would go with the Jackson Elite Plus. And if you need new blades, get the Ultima Elite. They are extremely good skates, and not over priced. Also, if you wanted to get the bottoms painted and varnished, that might take 7-10 days and about $50. Talk to your coach, and see what kind of skates s/he thinks you should get. Hope this Helps!

  6. RISPORT are very good skates  i have a pear of risports skates too

  7. separate.

and i recommend paramount blades (the most expensive one) with a high quality ridell boot.

  8. There's so many choices.  But I'm going to tell you that I have SP Teri's.  I don't know what exact make they are but if you're thinking of getting SP Teri's, get ready to feel like you're skating with cement shoes.  SP Teri's are extremely heavy and weigh down your feet quite a bit.  However they have a HUGE variety of foot/ankle sizes.  They were the best ones for my feet.  If you have super narrow ankles, I think I got an A for the ankles & I still have to really pad my ankles, but I have a wide ball of the foot, so I got a B for the toes.  They're perfect for the shape of my foot, but if you have normal shaped feet go for another brand.  I heard Graf's are good, I really want them, but I heard they break down so easily.  The good thing about my SP Teri's is I've had them 6 years and they're still alright.
