What are the relationship between matter, energy and live?

Obviously it is more complex than this, but basically, matter provides energy for life, life turns the energy back into matter.

Example, the matter of the sun creates and provides light and heat energy received by life on the earth.  Plants for instance use the energy to grow, as well as nutrients, and make matter.

Another example, you eat food (matter) for energy, to grow and maintain cellular matter (your body).

I'm sure there is a philosophical way of expressing this, but I hope this helps
