What are the relevant legal requirements covering the way you relate to and interact with children?

I'm currently doing an SVQ 3 Child care learning and development (although its not much different from the NVQ3). Any help appreciated!

  1. Try contacting the dept in charge of childcare in your area. They should have a basic set of guidelines for this.

    It's going to depend on where you are based and what age group you are working with as to how you are meant to interact with them.

  3. The United Nations Rights of the Child discusses the ways in which children should be related to. However it isn't a binding legal document. From memory it outlines respect, care, kindness etc which aren't measurable therefore aren't legally binding. But as a guideline it's worth looking at.

    We don't have a binding legal document in Australia, just guidelines. Although there are Child Protection Laws which were introduced around 1999-2000.
