K so basically what I'm wondering is, what will happen to someone who hacks into a yahoo account and changes the password?

One of my friends wants to hack into some kids yahoo email to get back at him for a fight they had and I'm afraid he's going ot get in trouble.

He is sure he knows the kids security question and he plans on getting in that way, so I'm trying to convince him not to.

But I want to know, does anyone know exactly what happens to a person who does this?

He wants to do it on my computer so that yahoo can't track his IP address?? ( I don't know what that is..)

He's so sure that he can do it without yahoo finding out who he is, but I don't think so.

Could anyone please help me?

What will yahoo do when the kid calls them and tells them he's locked out of his email account??

And can yahoo really track an "IP address".. whatever that is..??

And if he uses my computer, can I get in trouble too?

thnx

  1. Well this has bad idea written all over it.

First off, don't let him use your computer. Think of an IP address like your home address, people can use it to find out where your computer is, and can use it to track who has accessed certain websites.

KNowing the answer to a security question will only get the password emailed back the the actual kid that you are trying to "hack" into.

And if your friend is worried about getting in trouble by using his computer, why would you let him use yours?

The little ploy won't work, and its just silly considering the kid can just get the new password emailed to a different email address at any time. Forget it.

  2. First its illegal, but I think you know that.

2nd, Hack? You mean he HAS his password already? I don't see many real hackers out there.

But ok, assuming he can hack, then he would know better then to allow his email communications to be tracked via ip address.

And if he does not, and  crime(s) are investigated, you can be sure of a visit from the police will come to your door.

I'm not sure if you will get into trouble, but do you need the hassel?

  3. Your friend wants to do something illegal and mean.  Do not let him use your computer to do this, or you will be an accomplice to an illegal act.   As a matter of fact, you shouldn't let him use your computer for anything, considering how his nasty little mind works.  Find a new friend before you get into trouble.

  4. All internet providers can track your ip address and can log anything you do on their site, so if you let your freind use your computer it is the same as if you commited the crime. Yes it is  a crime if you get caught, read the tos TERMS OF SERVICE on any isp provider and they will tell you your access will be termanited why do you think he wants to do it on your computer? and if he steals the guys isenty he or you could go to jail. It is not a joke it is not a prank it is a crame that is punishable by the law. and not only do they have your ip address they have your phone number and date aand time stamp when it was done and saved on file on your computer to prosicute you if they decide to. DO NOT DO IT>
