  1. You need 2 things:

A check book and a log book

  2. The answer depends on what you want to pilot. The traditional answer is a "single engine land" airplane: meaning an airplane that lands on land (not on the water, aka a seaplane). Assuming an airplane, the simple answer is, to start training, you have to be at least 14 (16 to solo the airplane, 17 to actually receive the license), be able to speak and read English, be able to pass a simple medical physical, and perhaps the most important, have some cash to be able to pay for the lessons! Lot of details on the requirements are available at http://flighttraining.aopa.org/learntofl... (be sure to see the FAQ's) and http://www.aopa.org/learntofly/

  3. It really depends on how far you want to go with it. If you want to be a commercial pilot or private. A private pilot has to have 40hrs of total flight time (dual and solo) and pass a written, oral, and hands-on exam to be issued a license. The cost is usually around 6,000-10,000 dollars depending on what type of airplane you train in. To get a commercial pilots license the best way is to go to a flight school. Every school has its own requierments for admission. Some require some college some don't. To find out more about the different schools just type in flight academy's in your search engine and browse through. To become an airline pilot you will need a commercial pilot's license (CPL) and at least 500 hrs the best is 1500+ (1000 single 500 multi-engine). One way to build hours is to be a flight instructor and most of the time the flight academy you attend will hire you as an instructor at the completion of your flight training. Anyways, hope this helps

  4. I live near Kalamazoo, MI, and Western Michigan University has a premier flight school.  Below is a link to their website, which includes the answers to your questions as well as tuition information, etc.  Good luck!
