What are the requirements, to go to Montreal?

As of january 31st, the rules changed, but i don't know exactly what changed, So my question is: If i'm 16 what are the requirements to go into Canada from NY?

  1. Since you're underage you might need some type of parental consent if your parents are not going with.

    You will need a government issued photo ID and a proof of citizenship. You can either use a passport of birth certificate as a proof of citizenship just make sure you also have an ID with you if you don't have a passport.  

    I would also check the US Passport website before you plan on going. They'll have a lot more info there.

The rules changes stating that a valid passport is required for going between the border of US and Canada.  Have your passport with you, and your birth certificate, you cannot be too prepared, in cases like this, and definitely call your Border Services office in NY to confirm the rules.  I don't think there is anything more than that which has changed, but just be on safe side so you can enjoy your trip and really relax.

  3. I believe starting Jan 09 we all must have a valid passport no matter if we are Canadians going into US or fromt he US going into Canada.
