So the Legion. Horrible conditions and lack of basic facilities. You are there to gain citizenship as you were unable to get it right in the home country. So you will be sent to all of the worst places..... that is why they have it.

So if you want to get beat by the officers and live in filth.... go for it.

-you have to have a foreign (non french) passport/citizenship

-be between 17-40 years old

-pass military medical IQ & fitness tests

There is a 3 week rigarous screening process conducted in your native language at the auberge in just outside of Paris. During this time, you will have no contact with the outside world while they test your physical strength and your mental aptitude.They will also ask you about your personal life and what brought you to the Legion, be honest.           Regs for joining the French Foreign Legion are as

          follows:

          1)You must be between the age of 17 and 40

             (If young you need parent or guardian to approve)

           2)You must have a Valid Identity Card

           3)You must be physically fit whenever you are needed

           4)You must be able to speak and understand French
