  1. Call and ask.  I don't believe there are any legal requirements unless you are a 'teacher' or the director.

  2. At a quality center you would need either an early childhood education or teaching degree.  You might be able to get a job as some sort of assistant though, it depends on what the needs of the state are versus what the state laws allow.

There are no qualifications, per se, to start a home daycare but you would need to be certified by the state first and that requires meeting certain guidelines set by the state.  Usually you'd need to have frequent inspections and have a schedule planned, etc.

  3. The majority of daycare centers have at least one person with some sort of degree, whether it be in business, nursing, or child care.  This person is usually the owner, although directors sometimes have this.  Most of the other workers need nothing more than a good background check and must meet state safety requirements such as knowing infant CPR and basic first aid.  Also, most states require that workers attend a specified amount of hours of continuing adult education.  This may or may not be paid for by the daycare center.

You do not need any sort of degree to be a daycare worker.  While centers with degreed employees get better ratings, they rarely want to spend the money to pay for degreed employees.
