Like push ups an sit up and pull up and all that jazz. I'm training myself to go in to the Marines and I want to know if I am on the right track or not.

  1. LavaDog gave you excellent information (informative website too).  It never hurts you to be prepared and know what's ahead of you.   Don't ever be afraid to ask your recruiter questions either, it's his job to help you succeed.  As far as which boot camp (Brittany's response) it depends on which side of the Mississippi you're on.  Right - Parris Island, left - San Diego.  Either will teach you what you need to know and one is no better than the other..it is after all the Marine Corp!

  2. Here you go..

The Initial Strength Test (IST) for Recruits

If you are thinking about joining the USMC, you will have to pass the IST (Initial Strength Test). The IST is a shortened version of the USMC PFT. A recruit only has to do pull-ups, sit-ups, and a 1.5 mile run. The minimum standards for passing the Initial Strength Test are as follows:

    Male

    - 2 Pull Ups

    - 35 Sit Ups (2 minutes)

    - 1.5 Mile Run - 13:30

    Female

    - Flexed Arm Hang - 12 seconds

    - 35 Sit Ups (2 Minutes)

    - 1 Mile Run - 10:30

Here is my web site for future Marines..You can read all about what it means and takes to be a Marine..and you can watch videos about boot camp

  3. Alright I found the most accurate chart and the way that the Marines go by just go to this website and you can know everything you need to know to make it in the Marines, and Good Luck.

  4. Go to www.marines.com

Or go to your local recruiter.

I know you have to have a GED & pass the As-Vap?

    Or whatever that's called!

But be prepared, Marine boot camp will be the worst time of your life.

But when you finally get that Eagle, Globe and Ancor.

It will ALL be worth it.

And if you want it a LITTLE easier, go to California, not Parris Island.

Although you will be called a "hollywood marine", It is still a little less stressful.

(My fiance went to Parris Island.)
