What are the requirements to get my son into a public charter school?

Does any one know what are the requirements to get my son in one of this schools? I heard they go by your income, but im not sure; and as a parent, do you think is a good idea to send your kid to school when he is 3 yrs old?

  1. go to the school personally, they will be able to tell you the requirement as they differ from city, state, etc.  The earlier you inquire the better.  Having this knowledge will give you peace of mind in your toddler when he finally go to pre school.  Choose the right one for you and your son.


  2. Typically, Charter Schools run on a lottery system.  Go to the school or check for their web site and find out what the requirements are.

  3. Some charter schools are only available to those whose schools have failed to make improvements required by The No Child Left Behind Act.

    There are still others that operate to fill certain quotas to continue receiving monies. For example they need to have so many black children, white children, special needs children, even children determined to be "high risk"

    There are those that require a certain IQ

    As well as operating using a lottery system

    Each type of charter schools can be different.
