What are the requirements to marry an immigrant? "Just curious"!!?

I understrand it will be more complicated then a triditional marriage, but are there certain requirements and such?

It depends on where you want to marry the immigrant. If it's in their country, you'll need to find out what the requirements are to marry there. Normally there is a fee and they'll want proof that you are single. If you marry in the US then you'll need to apply for a fiance visa but before that you'll need to send in an I-129 F Petition. It is a long process but go to this website and it will explain most of it. It a bit tricky to get around it in the beginning but after a while you'll figure out where everything is. uscis.gov Also go to travel.state.gov and go to visas for non immigrants as he would enter as a non immigrant if he/she is coming on a Fiance Visa.

The sponsor has to make enough money say over $35,000 a year to sponsor a woman. If the sponsor has a bankrupcy on his record, he can never sponsor a spouse. He will have to come up with close to $1,500 in fees to sponsor a spouse, and he will be obligated to support her for 10 years if they ever separate or divorce. The spouse can not get welfare so she will rely on her sponsor to support her. And frankly, if like me regretably, please don't marry a divorced man, cause he is by law obligated to support the first wife and children from his first marriage, over than the 2nd wife and future kids.  I am in that boat, stuck with a man married him stupidly, and he can't barely support me cause his wages are garnished to support his first family.
