Question:

What are the requirements to owning an Apple iPhone?

I have been interested in purchasing an apple iPhone for quite some time and I have a few questions about both the original and 3G versions. I am not eligible for an upgrade so I will be buying it for $400 for an early upgrade, and I currently do not own any sort of data plan with my regular phone, can I just insert my SIM card and just continue with my current plan or do I need to upgrade to a data plan?

So my question is: When I purchase the iPhone, do I need to start up a completely different service or can I just keep my regular family talk plan with it and just not use the internet? Thanks.

  1. AT&T has a way to tell which phone you are using, so you cannot just insert the sim card, you have to add the $30 data plan.

  2. For the original iPhone the sim card you have now would work in the phone. If you are wanting the 3G then you would need a special kind of sim card for the phone. You can get one at your local AT&T store. You can keep the original plan you have now.

Nope, you shouldn't start a completely new service.  You can keep the same plan you have now

  3. If you arent on at&t you have to switch. The plan is really expensive though
