I am an American student who want to study nursing in (southern) Ireland. I just wanted to know what prerequisite classes i will need to take in order to qualify. I'm not sure what A levels mean, so any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Also if does anyone know what universities are good?

  1. The Republic of Ireland does not have A Levels, A Levels are part of the UK system.  Students in the Republic of Ireland do the Leaving Cert.

Applications for University in the Republic of Ireland are centralised through an organisation called the CAO (Central Applications Office), this link should take you to the handbook which information on how to apply for courses:

    http://www2.cao.ie/handbook/handbook/ind...

This is a link to a list of nursing courses, it's showing everything including vetinerary nursing, dental etc but you will be able to access the websites for individual Universities through the links on this site:

    http://www.cao.ie/courses.php

To find out how to log your qualifications when you make your application I would advise you to either contact the CAO or the individual Universities that you're interested in attending.
