  2. You're right, every school is different.  But in general...

If you have a roundoff backhandspring on floor, a cartwheel or backwalkover on beam, and a handspring vault, you''ll have a good chance of making at least one of the teams.  If you have a kip on bars, you're in for sure.  Giant swings and a backhandspring on beam will most likely get you onto varsity.

But most schools don't have specific requirements for their teams.  It just depends on who's trying out, what they can do, and how many spots are open on the team.  If there are only a few "really good" gymnasts, they may take girls who've had little or no experience.  But if everyone trying out is an upper-level club gymnast, it will be harder to make the team.

If you're wanting to make your high school team, enroll in some gymnastics classes NOW and keep them up all year.  If you don't make it this year, you can try out again next year.  And if you DO make the team, keep up your classes anyway, even when your high school season starts.  It will only make you that much better!

    Good luck! =]

  3. im trying out for my hs gymnastics team 2 for this first time. From what i hear you should have front handspring, back handspring. Round-off back handspring helps.
