And what 8th grade programs are there? I am moving and and want to be homeschooled. My parents are okay with it, but are dragging their feet. While my sister is going to start school shortly. My parents (who are divorced) haven't even researched the requirments. I'm worried they will try to put me in public school, even though they said I could be home schooled. It's not something I would put past them. They tend to change their minds at the last minute and tell me an hour before the event happens.

  1. www.hslda.org

  2. You might want to try the Homegrad program. They offer a diploma, and will work with you and your parents to tailor a curriculum to suit your needs. They provide supervision, will help your parents with questions, cover the legal requirements, etc.

  3. As I recall it just has to be an Accredited program.  Most school in a box systems are accredited.

I would poke around this site for a little while, getting the info that you think would prepare you and your parents.  There are various options, so you and your parents need to decide if you'll do it privately (register as a private school or get a tutor) or through the public/charter school.  Also, I suggest you google the city you'll be moving to and "homeschool groups" to get an idea of what resources you'll have and what looks like it might be a fit your family.  Your mom or dad (whoever you live with) may want to contact the leader of one or more group to get answers to any questions.

    Good luck!
