What are the requirments for opening an at home daycare?

I am looking to open a day care in my home, does anyone know the requirments and licensing process in Texas? If anyone has expierience or knows, please let me know>

when i started my childcare i went through childcare resource and referral...they set me up with my local food program which set me up with my background check, fingerprinting, health\fire inspections, cpr\1st aid...very helpful so you know all your basis are covered...then of course advertise with all of your qualifications...good luck and have fun!

I'm in NC and I got started with my local CCR&R. They offered a class that taught you everything you needed to get started in family child care. They were extremely helpful!!! A lot of CCR&R offer CPR/1st aid classes, as well as any other training you may need.

I tried asking a few people that I knew that had home day care and they didn't want to give me any information. I don't know about in Texas but it took me almost a year to get licensed. I was able to take care of a few kids before I got approved. Good Luck!!!
