Question:

What are the restictions for luggage on Northwest Airlines?

I will be traveling from Asia to Hawaii and staying in Hawaii for 4 days before returning to my home on the East Coast.

Going to Asia, I brought 2 checked luggages and one carry-on. However, after vacationing in Hawaii, I'm uncertain as to whether or not my extra suitcase will cause additional fees.

Because going from Hawaii to my home is domestic travel, yet, my to and fro flights are international, what will the luggage restrictions?

Will my luggage directly go to my final destination or will it also travel to Hawaii with me?

  1. From Asia to Hawaii, you follow the piece rule, i.e, 2 pcs. luggage each not weighing more that 50 lbs and dimension should not exceed 60 inches. H+W+L.  But since you are staying in Hawaii and not just for connection, the domestic rule on luggage will apply.  Your luggage always travel with you, where you stay, they stay, unless you ship them as unaccompanied baggage.

  2. Contact Northwest Airlines and ask them this question. That way you'll know exactly what to expect.
