What are the roles of United Nations delegates, ambassadors, and diplomats in solving international conflict?

Their roles generally are to come with a decision that would satisfy the security, safety, status of parties involve and they will implement their decision..but, jokingly, their role is to sit and ponder and talk and sign and call thier assistants to do their job...

Ambassadors and diplomats represent the interests of their countries abroad. So their role in solving international conflicts would be to work with their counterparts to come to a resolution of conflicts that would best serve their own nations.
