  1. Well agriculture has really helped in world upliftment and these are my reason.

Firstly without agriculture people will starve to death because agriculture involves planting, rearing of animals for consumption and processing.

Secondly processing of materials i mean the skin gotten from animals can be used to make cloth or shoes which we wear these has really helped man to cover is nakedness we also get cotton too in the farm.

Lastly without agriculture you not eat you will not have cloth and shoes to wear and lastly the roof of your house and door even walls of your house are made of wood and you get wood from trees which is in the forest and forest is part of agriculture.

I hope with this few point of mine i have been able to convince you not confuse you that agriculture has greatly helped in world upliftment.

  2. When people have something to eat, they tend to  function much better; both cognitively and physically.

  3. I agree with john,  Plus new technology in agriculture is constantly being push in order to provided for the ever increasing population on fewer and fewer acres of fertile ground.  Agriculture must provided food, fiber and shelter on land that is ever in demand for wildlife habitat, human recreation and infostructure required by developing and developed countries.

  4. I would think that the curious one would know  that upliftment is a much used word, even if it is not in the spell check dictionary, just Google it.  In a developing country increasing agriculture is the first step in helping a struggling country to it's feet.  To paraphrase a famous saying, "Give me a bowl of rice and I'll eat for a day.  Teach me to grow rice and I'll eat for the rest of my life."  From the hunting and gathering days when finding food took nearly all of man's time, the advancement of agriculture has freed people from constantly seeking food so they can go on to be doctors, engineers, etc.

In modern society agriculture and having enough food to eat  is often taken for granted.  It's easier to see the role of agriculture when it fails and people go hungry.

  5. ?????????????????????

  6. It gives food. Without it all of us will be in hunger.

  7. Of course we can all happily agree that more food feeds more people, therefore less hunger.

Commercial agriculture dictates what is grown where.

Note that most of our organic food, and "petit pois", "baby sweetcorn", and other decorative food is grown in third world countries.

Why? - because organic food and decorative food is land and labour consuming, so it's done where land and labour is cheap.

Of course, this not only means tropical forests have to be cleared to accomodate our fancy foods, but also it displaces the local crops. Of course money changes hands, and some of it may reach the local population.

But I cite the notable Irish potato famine. Sometimes misrepresented to look like tactical ethnic cleansing, but actually money doesn't have time for those things. Historically the years when the potato crop failed were not uncommon, however in the potato famine of note, the problem arose because most of the farmland was taken up for export crops, and little was used for local consumption. Farm labourers relied on their small gardens to grow some potatos for their own family's consumption. Hence when the potatos failed (in their kitchen gardens) it was not possible to go out and get food from the commercial fields, as this was export produce, either already gone, or not suitable for immediate consumption in the famine.

Likewise Uganda's biggest export is cut flowers, very nice, but what do the locals eat? What if their local crops failed, they can't rush out and eat the flowers.

Stop all food exports. All countries should be required to first attend to domestic requirements, and surpluses should go as aid, not dumped in foreign markets, depressing the price of food in that market, and putting local farmers out of business.

  8. well since upliftment isn't a word, your question is pretty difficult to answer.
