I want to try-out when school starts specifically for libero, but I don't understand the rules completely and I don't undersand it the way the internet explains it and/or the rules may have changed.

So your input on the rules would be very appreciated.

Thank you!

P.S. tips are well come too!

  1. For middle school and high school, the Libero rules are the same.

The Libero may serve in one position in the rotation.

The Libero may go in for any back row player on a dead ball.

The Libero must sit out for one rally between replacements except when they are gong back to serve.

The Libero may not use their hands to set a ball while on or inside the 10 foot line.  (It does not matter if the next player is front row or back row, they may not attack the ball.)

The Libero may not attack a ball that is completely above the height of the net.  It does not matter if the Libero is behind the 10 foot line or not.  No attacking the ball by the Libero is allowed.

  2. Well, I don't play libero but I know a couple of basic rules that you should know.

The libero can't rotate to the front row, they just play back row

The libero can serve for another player, but just one player

The libero is allowed to substitute for any player in the back row

When the libero is going in to play, they don't have to sub, they can just go in.

They can't go in during a play, just before the serve

Tips:  remember to always be ready to receive the ball.  Follow the ball wherever it goes, don't stay planted on the ground.  Always call for the ball(that goes for everyone, not just libero).

Good luck! and I hope this helps at least a little... :-)
