What are the rules for parallel parking?

i was watching seinfeld and they were arguing who's space it was.....one guy was there first and was trying to reverse park...and then the other guy was trying to go head first??who's space is it?? the guy going reverse too long to reverse but he was a couple spaces up

If the guy who's waiting to reverse in was there first but didn't have his signal on, the space belongs to the guy who heads in first.

As stated above, no real rules but i have always giving the person that is reversing the right of way due to the fact that head in parallel parking would to me be much harder.

Anyway George was taking to long to park.

No solid rule here, just the standard old rules for politeness and driver courtesy apply.

I would say really it belongs to the guy going head first.  The guy who intends to reverse has already gone past the parking spot.
