What are the rules for rugby league?

i am a rugby league fan however i am unable to REALLY get into the games because i dont really know what is going on... i mean i know what a try is but not really anythiing else!!!

Could someone please explain it to me?

  1. O.k super basically, the team with the ball has 6 tackles to score a try. Everytime someone is tackled the defending team has to retreat ten metres and the person who was tackled has to roll the ball under their foot to the dummyhalf. If the attacking team is tackled six times without scoring a try they have to give the ball to the defending team from the spot of the sixth tackle. Thats why most of the time they kick on the fifth tackle. Hope that helps

    WARNING:  good on you for asking for the rules here..my sister inlaw always asks me and my bro halfway through the game to explain the rules and we would really love to yell at her..LOL  Don't ask for rules during the game, wait until halftime to avoid peeing people off....
