I'm told you have to have a certain ratio of adults to children, there must be a firstaider etc. I'm organising a family event. We'll have a creche there, and I'm planning for it. Thanks

  1. It depends on the age of the children. 3 year olds and under should have a ratio of at least 1:6

Yes, there must be a trined first aider.

  2. The creche must be run by a registered childminder.  It depends on the ages of the children as to how many adults per child.

  3. ask the local social services

  4. Ratio: Will depend on age-0-2=3 children, 1 adult, 2-3=4 children, 1 adult and 3-5=8 children to one adult. If you are having mixed ability then you newed to check ratios carefully.

First Aider: Yes there must be someone who is trained in Paediactric First Aid.

Insurance: Check you have insurance and liability cover!

Training: I'm not rules for creche but I think leader has to have qualification in early years childcare.

Criminal Record Checks must be done on staff!

    Try looking up:

    Local Children's Centre

    Social Care Services

On Internet: Sure Start website National Standards for under 8

    OFSTED

Other Creches in the area to see what they do!

  5. i agree  with the ratio of adults  to children also the first aider.

there lots of other issues you need to think about if running a creche, you need to talk to your local child care center , and also read up and follow  all the regulations  and policies  before you even consider running or opening any form of child care setting.
