What are the rules in managed property renting 1 bedroom. I know if you are a couple you can rent 1 bedrooms?

Say you are 50 years old and you have a son 18 but hes not home much ,can I rent a 1 bedroom apartment?

I am sure you can.  There is no law that grown adults HAVE to sleep in a bedroom.

Occupancy limit laws vary depending on jurisdiction.  If there are no local laws regulating occupancy, LANDLORDS may have occupancy restrictions written into the lease you sign.  

Explain to your potential landlord you have a "parttime" son and that he'd stay with you from time to time.  If the apartment is big enough, say 800 square feet or bigger, you might be able to partition off part of the living room for him to "crash" in when he visits.

Lifestyle differences in the best parent child relationship may get frayed in such a small living area.  Consider a two bedroom place.

no special rules, those rules only apply when you have say 2 children, a boy and a girl and you want to rent a 2 bedroom. Won't work because the children have to have seperate bedrooms but if you have say 2 girls or 2 boys they a 2 bedroom is fine.
