Question:

What are the rules on Wimbledon clothing logos?

Early in this years Wimbledon tournament I was surprised to see a male player with a large 'Sun' newspaper logo on his sleeve facing the front.

I know players can have the clothing manufacturers logos as long as they are discreet but I thought all third party sponsorship logos were banned especially when they were large and red!!

No-one seemed to comment and they played as usual but I never saw another player with anything like it.

So what are the rules?

  1. As long as the clothing is predominantly white then it's fine. Third party sponsorship logos have to be allowed; a lot of players get into trouble if they don't wear their third party sponsorship logos and could risk losing their contracts, especially as it's at a huge event such as Wimbledon.

  2. Clothes of all players must be 80% white, that´s the rule.

They can have sponsors logos on their shirts.

For example: a few female players had a geico logo on their shirts. (like Alla Kudryavtseva)

  3. You are right about the rules. However, the players won't be banned if they wore a larger than normal sized print. The company will ask him/her to wear it and they will promptly pay the fines on behalf of the players. This has been happening for years!

  4. No real rules I think. You should just be wearing all white clothing.

  5. to be honest i'm not really sure but i think once the short is white then its fine!!!!!!!
