What are the safety, comfort and efficency developments/history in cars over the years?

I have tried to find infomation on the internet and am struggling. I am doing an assignment on the history of the automobile and paritcular emphasis is to be placed on these three subjects- safety, comfort and efficiency.

I would suggest that you go to an automobile museum in your area and ask some questions.

I would also suggest that you attend a few "classic" car shows which I'm sure are held most weekends somewhere in your area.

Look at these cars. Look at the interior. Look under the hood. Ask questions about what's different now. Those owners love to talk about their cars. They have usually spent hundreds of hours working on them.

I suppose you could also look up some car manufacturing history websites on a search engine.

Safety................ohhhhh, so many things from where the key is placed (and how to start this machine) to the placement of levers, etc. within the driver's cabin.

Comfort..............well, just sit in an old boneshaker (Model T) and see how hard the seats were!

We have cup holders now! We have electric windows and mirrors..........quite nice!

Efficiency- with the price of gas going up as it is, cars are manufactured with fuel saving engines, for example.

Have fun, and hey, talk to older people out there in your neighbourhood too. They will tell you a lot. After all, THEY have history!
