What are the sanding grit table?

i need to know the grit chart for sanding car paint

for example 100 is for what and 500 is for what, please give me each of the hundreds what they are for

  1. The lower the number the coaser the grit. You want to use an abrasive coarse enough to remove the material in a reasonable amount of time without leaving scratches so deep, they add time and work to the next step of the repair process.

    36 grit removing excess body filler (after cheese grater)

    80 grit feather-edging (blending edge of body filler)

    180 grit smoothes sand scrathes left from 80 & feather-edging

    220 grit wet/dry sanding primer/ primer-filler ( this is the black stuff. using it dry will cause clogging)

    400 wet/dry you need to go at least to 400 to get a decent finish

    600 wet/dry = better finish

    1000 removes orange peel ( read paint or clear coat label to see when it's ok to sand or compound )
