  1. Grades as in years? Year 7 is when secondary school begins, aged 11.

    Then year 8 ages 12-13.

    year 9 is ages 13 - 14

    year 10 is ages 14 - 15

year 11, which is the final year of secondary school is ages 15 - 16.

After that you can take part in post 16 education, which is optional (but i recommend if you want to progress to University), which is 2 years long, from ages 16 - 18.

It goes by how old you are when the school term starts in the beginning of september.

Hope that was what you were looking for!

  2. Well, in sort of year 7,8 and 9, we still have levels, which is like 3->8. For them its just an average of the whole class, no one outside the classroom is told them results. then theres GCSE;s which are taking when your 16, this year the UK saw the highest ever grades for them. but to get into 6th you need atleast 3 over c's. To get into college you need just GCSE's. :)
