What are the school years in America???

I am Australian and I want to know what the school years are in America.

School Years? I dont get it but um we have 13 years in school.You start at age 5 usually and end at age 18

The years are as follows

Elementary:

Kindergarden(5-6)

1st Grade(6-7)

2nd Grade(7-8)

3rd Grade(8-9)

4th Grade(9-10)

5th Grade(10-11)

Middle School:

6th Grade(11-12)

7th Grade(12-13)

8th Grade(13-14)

High School:

9th Grade(14-15)

10th Grade(15-16)

11th Grade(16-17)

12 Grade(17-18)

not sure exactly what you mean, but there's K-12, basically.  kindergarten, then grades 1-5 are called primary school.  middle school is 6-8, then high school is 9-12.

Elementary 1,2,3,4,5,6 middle school 7,8 high school 9,10, 11&12. College: freshman, sophomore, junior & senior.

Well there's Head start which is not mandatory, but parents send their children there from ages 3-5 usually to get the basics like leaning to socialize with children their age, learn the alphabets, nature, art, etc... and it also provides a babysitter for working Moms.  Kindergarten is another form of head start for 5 year olds.  First grade starts at age 6, then it goes:  Grades 1-5 is Elementary School.  Grades 6-8 is considered Middle School, and Grades 9-12 is considered High School, then you graduate from High School with a High School Diploma.  After high school, lots of kids go to college for 2 to 4 years depending if you want an Associate's Degree or an Bachelor's Degree.  After 4 years of College, you can go for another 2-4 years for your Master's Degree.  I hope that helped.

The school year starts the first week of September for some schools and ends in June.

Universities usually begin in September and end in May.

Kindergarten starts at age 5 but kids can start at age 4 in a pre-school or head-start program.

18 is the age that most students graduate high school.
