  1. I saw modern buildings made of concrete bricks etc like the ones in any city, in Lima.

I saw mudbricks home (I think they refer to these as "adobe" homes) and enclosures made of woven matted materials on the hills in the outskirts of Lima. These homes belong to the squatters that have moved to the area from the Northern villages of Peru and some even from the Amazon forest. We visited the people in this community through the Methodist church in Lima and tried to help the children by giving the church money to feed them and sewing machines for the women so they can sew clothing to sell. (They told us they mend used clothes that were discarded and then re-sell these. Work was slow, without sewing machines.) It is a very poor area.

The rural homes in the Puno and Lake Titicaca areas had brick houses and wooden houses and metal roofs. Some have those thatched roofs.

On Lake Titicaca itself, the homes and shelters are made of tortora reeds , like the floating islands they are on.....very unique. I wish I could show you the pictures I took. It is difficult for me to describe but I tried.

I am sorry that I don't know of any thing else to help...esp architectural information etc.
