Question:

What are the signs of an injured pectoral muscle?

I was stretching after doing some push ups one day and as I relaxed my arm, my pecs felt as if it had been strained and visible straight, hard lines appeared on it. They disappeared quickly after some relaxation and massaging, although my pecs still feel strained. Is this a sign of torn muscles?

Thanks.

  1. You may have a slight tear, more than likely though, you just strained it.

If the muscle was actually torn, you be be in a great deal of pain.

    Rest it.

Ice it on and off every 20 min's.

It should start to feel better.

    :-)

  2. it could be a strained muscle but it could also be a pulled muscle, keep some heat on it and dont do any hard lifting with it for a few days.

  3. As an LMT and not a doctor, i would say that it sounds like a severe spasm/cramp.
