I think I might be...I get happy for no reason suddenlly and then it goes away 30 seconds later

I'M NOT ON DRUGS

I also have times when I go crazy and just break down and cry, usually after a fight...I can't stand being with my insane family any more

  1. Based on your information given I don't think you have it. It is normal to be upset after a fight, and Mania is not necessarily about being "happy", it is an out of control high. Use Google for the symptoms or www.mdf.org.uk is a good site. If you still have concerns see your GP and they can refer you to a specialist.

  2. that sounds more like borderline personality disorder.

It can seem reassuring that you can classify your mental disfunction...like somehow its identifying your issue and the doctors can remove it for you but its not that simple.

In order to really understand your situation you need to talk to someone who has witnessed a wide range of issues.

This may help find a medical treatment to help your issues and that will give you the chance to talk about yourself with some sense, this can help a lot of people figure out some deeper misunderstandings and fears which empowers you to act upon your issues in life

  3. Signs/Symptoms are: talking rapidly, sleeping few hours but feeling extremely energetic, withdrawal, inability to concentrate, racing thoughts, impaired judgment, etc.

  4. Impulse Spending - Spending money when you really don't have any to spend. Going shopping simply because you're upset, or to get away.

The urge to have multiple sexual partners - Obviously depends on your age, but if you're of age, constantly wanting more, and more, usually unhappy with your last partner, looking for a new one.

These are two common, but not talked about enough signs of the manic stage.

Severe mood swings - This doesn't mean happy one minute and sad the next. This means at one point your head is bursting with happiness, the point of being obnoxious, and then swinging to anger that leads to extreme adrenaline rushes.

With Bi-Polar disorder you don't go from happy to sad or upset within minutes. You stay in the manic stage usually for a week or so, and then move to the depressive stage for a few days or so.

Read about it on the internet, search on google, and most importantly if you think you may have it, go to your doctor and get treated. Bi-Polar is not a joke, and can be very serious. You can cause harm to yourself and others in both the manic and depressive stages.
