What are the signs of infection????

i have stitches in my hand for a dog bite what are the signs of infection?

I am a CCMA

Red, Swelling, Hot to the touch, green or white discharge ( Pus)

Unusual Bleeding

If the actual wound isn't hot and swollen and painful it is probably OK.

Can you try and keep your hand elvated somewhat-like in a sling made from tying a soft scarf around your neck and making a loop for your hand.

That may help your swollen fingers.

Signs and Symptoms of  infections it depends on which part of the body are being affected. if it is a respiratory infection it varies with simple coughing or difficulty of breathing. if it is urinary tract infection, patients encountered dysuria , burning sensation while urinating, low back pain sometimes appear. local skin infection,it varies with itchiness, redness,swollen and pain. if with pus, the skin area is warm to touch.  and many more signs and syptoms to cathegorize for every part of body system being affected most.

ouch, sorry to hear that...if there is pus, swelling, redness, pain, foul odor, etc.......make sure you watch it carefully and keep it clean....

if you have a red ring (circle) around the bite, if it hurts, and or if there is pus coming out of it. If you see any of those please go back to the Dr. Hope you get to feeling better
