What are the signs of toddler-bed-readiness?

My 21 month old has been climbing out of his crib all week. This is new for him. Is he ready for a toddler bed?

He isn't falling or getting hurt by climbing out. I have a tall gate up so he can't escape his room when he does.

He is soooo quiet when he climbs out!!!

That's the big sign... climbing out of the crib.  It's time to switch!  You're lucky that your son is such a good climber, but it's not really safe for him to be doing that and you don't want him to fall and hurt himself.  It's good that you already have his room gated off, so he's already be doing the get out of bed and explore the room thing.  He'll probably make the switch with no problem.

Yes it is time. He might get scared at first (the lack of bars for security) but he is at the age for a big boy bed.

Let him choose the color of his blanket. My son loved that.
