  1. Phenothiazines are antipsychotic drugs.

    Benzo's are anti-anxiety\anti-convulsant drugs.

benzo's just calm your nerves, I can't imagine what a phenothiazine does to you, but they have nasty side effects.

  2. The major difference between benzodiazepines and phenothiazines is the affect they have on neurotransmitters.

Benzos bind to and increase the amount of GABA in the brain.  This action causes sedation iand decreased anxiety.  They are considered minor tranquilizers.  Benzodiazepines are Schedule IV  [ CIV ] controlled substances.  They are used to treat anxiety disorders and sleep disorders (i.e. insomnia).

Phenothiazines are anti-psychotic drugs that block dopamine in the brain. They are called major tranquilizers and are used to treat psychotic disorders like schizophrenia.

  3. benzodiazapines are used for like anxiety or a muscle relaxant and phenothiazines are most commonly used for schizophrenia.
