  1. Similarities:

    Both made of DNA

Bonding patterns in DNA follow same rules

Both use the same genetic code for making proteins

    Both organize DNA into genes

Gene organization is similar with genes having promoter regions, coding sequences, and termination sequences

    Differences:

Prokaryotes are haploid while eukaryotes are usually diploid (but can be haploid or polyploid)

Prokaryotes do not package their DNA into compact chromosomes like eukaryotes do

Eukaryotes have a lot more non-coding DNA

Eukaryotes control gene expression in many more ways, including both space and time, while prokaryotes only need to control gene expression in time
