What are the simptoms of bad timing??? zx6

i have a 2003 zx6 ninja 636 and i change the camshaft chain tensioner because the chain was making alot of noise. the noise stop when i changed it but now it has an unstaible idle and it stalls sometimes on the stop light what could it be. could it be bad timing ?????

Sounds like a motorcycle mechanic needs to adjust your timing or you installed it incorrectly or maybe left an idle sensor off.

yeah your out of time, take it to the dealer, your going to pay, but they have all the tools to do it right the first time

It may be timing, but it could involve more variables. Did you actually do anything like remove the chain? Check any vacuum lines for leaks or bad connections? If it's idling rough and stalling out, it sounds like it's retarded and not advanced - because advanced it would idle higher. When you are riding does it backfire, have trouble with pre-ignition, and have you checked the plugs at any time? The plugs will tell you more about the operation of an engine then anything...... if the chain was loose then it could have caused issues with the plugs in the past - check them.... and look over the anodes very carefully.... during normal riding if everything seems smooth, it's not a timing issue or at least not one where it's off much
