What are the sitting positions called on a motorcycle?

I want to buy a motorcycle(sport). It will be my first bike. I want to sit in the up-right position. I don't want to lean over the gas tank to ride.

then your looking at either a standard or a cruiser type of bike as far as sitting positions there is rider and passenger , pillion or *****

I would just say upright.

You want a cruiser, or old school standard street bike.

then you want a "sport touring" bike, upright riding position...

honestly, the sport position is not nearly as uncomfortable as it looks...

You just support your weight with your knees, and feet, you can ride for hours...you can also rest your chest on the tank...

you can also get taller handle bars for sport bikes to make the position more upright...helibars are a common accessory for sport bike riders that plan on touring more...

When I first saw sports motorcycles, I thought they looked really uncomfortable, but recently I started riding two of them my self, Kawasaki ZZR250 & Honda CBR125R, both are very comfortable bikes, to be honest I'm more comfortable on those sports bikes than driving my car!

OK you need a sport tourer. Or what's called dual sport.

Katana, SV650, Ninja 650R, and GS500F these are all entry level bikes with a more upright riding position.

Kawasaki ZZR250 and CBR125 are not sport bikes.

IMO the more upright bikes don't look as good.

You need a cruiser or a sport touring bike then. Sport bikes require you to lean over the tank.

don't know about sitting position names but of course crouch rockets are the ones you lean over and cruisers you ride up-right. we ride a cruiser.
