an interesting nation where 3 ethnic group surge for fame glory and dominance. pluralistic society.

malays are the original inhabitants, chinese still control the economy and indians the fence sitter that enjoys the benefit of both the chinese and malay world.  

each has a distinct socio-cultural-linguistic tendency and there is little mixing except for certain social events. the chinese and indians could easily get along with each other as the malays being muslims tend to be exclusively on their own.  intermarriage between indian males and chinese females is not uncommon.  

each has their own religious / racial events but they usu have 'open' house during such celebrations where anyone can walk in for goodies and foodies.

poverty is spread across the 3 groupings.  there's lots of self-help within themselves and the govt tend to give additional help to the malays.

certain industries are dominated by specific groups.

cultural events are also exclusive. chinese wayangs [theatre] still goes on within the chinese community.  malay bangsawan [drama] confined to themselves and indian dancing and movies to indians only.
