  1. Many have said the best way is to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (in that order).

If you can reduce how many resources you use to begin with this is the best because reducing consumption gets the biggest bang for your buck. Replacing your incandesent lights with the high effeciency ones, minimizing how many lights you have on, buying stuff with less packaging, using cloth bags instead of paper/plastic, replacing toilets that require 5 gallons of water per flush with 1 gallon per flush toilets, opening a window instead of using the A/C, walking/biking to work instead of taking a car, combining shopping tips when you do have to use a car, living in a smaller home, and living closer to where you work or go to school.

Once you have reduced what you consume, concentrate on reusing what you do consume. One easy thing is to reuse your bath towel for a week by hanging it up to dry instead of tossing it into the laundry hamper. Another may be heat up leftovers instead of pitching it down the garbage disposal. Packing a lunch from home in a reusable container.

Recycle what waste you do generate. Most things can be recycled. For example old clothes can be donated to your local Goodwill or Salvation Army, most newspaper, glass, cans, and cardboard can be recycled. Buy items that are made from recycled materials. When you do have to replace an appliance, buy a better quality item that will give years more service life than a cheap model (try consumer reports to compare).

    Hope this helps -

  2. an easy way is just to recycle or use the green bin also if you have old/broken cell phones you can go to rogers and drop them off in a box to recycle those

  3. The three R's, Reduse Reuse Recycle! Recycle any recyclables: Cans, Bottles, Cardboard, etc.

Use reusable bags at grocery stores instead of plastic ones!

Make a compost heap in yur backyard if you can!

  4. E.P.A. TOILET FROM CANADA==NAMED ENVIROLET. AFTER USE AND 30 DAYS WITH PEAT MOSS YOU CAN USE IT FOR FERTILIZER FOR ROSES ONLY, ALSO KILLS SMELL ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. AFTER 90 DAYS YOU CAN USE IT IN WOOD STOVES TO HEAT HOMES GOOD SMELL. I TOLD EASTERN CANADA, BUT THEY IGNORED IT. IF FORESTRY USED IT IN ODD HOUSES, VERY LITTLE TO NO BUGS. ALSO COULD MAKE BOX AND USE PEAT MOSS=PEAT MOSS ABOUT $10 FOR A BALE. LAST FOR MONTHS

  5. Don't flush your toilets with tap water from the pipes. Use the water from your clothes washer and your bathtub to flush the toilet. You can put a large, plastic container in the bathroom and bail the water from the bathtub with a gallon pitcher (stop up the tub if you are getting a shower). The drain hose on the back of your washer is flexible and can be hooked over the side of a 32 gallon plastic garbage can--you can catch the water in that. Then use a gallon pitcher (or larger) to pour this water directly into the toilet bowl (not tank) to flush. That way you are not wasting drinkable water on your pee and p**p.

  6. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
