Ok, i want to put a subwoofer in my car but im not sure about the watts and amps for both of them and all that. My car came with it factory installed. I looked all over and cant find info about the kind of amp i have. I know it's an Infinity amplifier and the model number is MR158403. I need to know how much power it has to see if it will work with my subs. Any help or websites is appreciated. Thanks

  1. you dont want to do that. I have put together 50+ car stereo systems and when I began I too thought why can't I just use the factory amp that came with the car?? the answer is I have never seen a factory amp that has the power to push even decent subs. It seems as though you are just starting out with car stereos so I will give you a good setup that you could use. that is not that expensive.

    2xkicker 10" or 12" CVR 400rms  >180 for the pair

    2 channel 1000wt DHD/ > little over 100

    4 guage wiring kit   >25-35

ported or sealed box (match the SPL from the subs) 35-50

I have put this setup in a corolla a civic a element and a saturn. and for what it is it slams rather well.

*always make sure that you amp for your subs is at LPF not HPF or FULL the best way to tune them is to zero out the amp settings to o, as well as all the setings on the head unit. turn the head unit all the way up and tune the amp. after you tune the amp tune the head unit. you want to use a good song for this .

-cads on 22s,latenight tip, me and my brother etc.

when you want to upgrade your highs you want to bypass the factory amp completely and install a second amp. the same process as above instead you want to select HPF on the amp instead of LPF you would need a 4-6 channel amp with wattage that corresponds with the speakers you choose.

I suggest infinite kappa, selenium, or eminence.

I put 4 6.5 infinite kappas in a truck on a 600 watt amp and they screamed.

it is possible to run subs on a factory amp but I dont advise it AT ALL!  it will likely not work well

if you want info on capatibility you have to include the name and type of the subs, email me back and I can help ya with that as well.

and don't pay out the **** for a system you can put together a $1000 dollar system for less than $500 you just have to know what your looking at and where to look.

besides wholesale online seems to be the best place to find subs for the lowest price.

if you have any more questions feel free to ask Ill steer you in the right direction

    good luck
